Since I do too, here's a list of sites that have actually made me money:

MyPoints.com
This website sends a few emails a day and all you do is open and click on them. Each email earns you 5 points and it takes about 3000 points to start having some good redemption options. You redeem your points for gift cards and the best part is you can earn up to 10 points per dollar spent through their website. I once used my points to get a Gap gift card and then earned about 500 MyPoints (almost $5) just by using it online! It works just like these credit card cash back offers except no bogus fees and crazy interest rates!

Amazon Mechanical Turk
Now this website is just great. It is great if you need to do some academic research and you want to pay participants as well. With this program, you just complete surveys for Amazon credit. This is really boring but pays really well. I sometimes make a better hourly rate than at my real job - the other day I made 20 bucks in 30 minutes.

BzzAgent

This is fun but requires a little more work. BzzAgent is a marketing company that provides samples in exchange for feedback and information sharing. In addition to sending samples, BzzAgent also rewards your feedback with MyPoints! Talk about a great deal! I most recently received 5 mascaras and 5 lip balms in the Maybelline Lots of Lashes and Baby Lips campaign. I get some for me and some to share with friends- I must say I enjoy the Baby Lips! I would like to offer the mascara to some of my readers to try but I need to get Rafflecopter! Stay tuned!Michael & Keeleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08019401730845336627noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-757232362102721302.post-65563875459741030172009-07-01T02:17:00.000-07:002009-07-01T02:30:27.993-07:00Fake Jobs Flood CraigslistThis is a big WARNING against looking for jobs on Craigslist. These times are depressing enough if you don't have a job. Imagine browsing through Craiglist on a whim, hoping to get lucky. Suddenly you read the perfect ad- they are looking for an administrative assistant in your field in your town paying $15/hr right away! You get to typing up the perfect cover letter and feel like you are about to get that interview call seconds after you click send....... And in a sudden turn of events, the automated response comes. It tells you that they are trying to set up an interview but need you to complete your application on a website. Now, this website told you that the job was in Newark, NJ, was part time and paid $15/hr. You also just sent your resume to the e-mail address listed on Craigslist. Why then, does this website ask you to fill out your name, address, employer information, desired salary and desired schedule (part time or full)??? Wasn't this already done?? Well, it turns out that one company, Career Network, posts phony ads all over the country. They post many different jobs with many different email addresses to respond to. They seem very real, but they all have the same type of automated response. Some will even say they tried calling you but could not reach you 4 seconds after you e-mailed them. Do not respond to these ads! This company sells your information and you will receive nonstop emails and calls if you do!!

In addition to the national job scams, we of course have the local scams. This guy in Montclair NJ ought to be ashamed of himself. For months on end, he has been posting ads repeatedly and in all sections of Craigslist advertising for bartender openings at his bar in Montclair. He says he prefers to train his own staff. SO- When you call, this guy asks how many years of experience you have. We have tested him out many times and if you say none, he will call you back because he is operating a sketchy bartending school on the low. Michael called and said he had six years experience and the guy said he'd call right back and never did. I called and asked him why so many people were talking about his ads being fraudulent if he is really a bar and not a school and he started flipping out on me like I was the one illegally soliciting customers for my business disguised as a job. People online that have fallen for it say they have paid for the school and just got their money taken. This guy and others like him need to be stopped! I say boycott Craigslist jobs for a little bit!!Michael & Keeleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08019401730845336627noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-757232362102721302.post-80983870100974526782009-07-01T01:40:00.000-07:002009-07-01T02:16:30.292-07:00Paypal is THE WORSTI already regarded Paypal as the worst company ever, especially given how huge it is. In my mind, only Raymour and Flanigan can come as close to the horrors of Paypal. Here's what they've done in the past 2 days (I have problems at least this often):
A while ago I ordered a Playstation 2 from ebay. The guy sent me a tracking number via paypal and it arrived nicely packaged and on time. Too bad it didn't even work. So I sent a message to this guy asking for a refund. He never responded and so I contacted paypal. He still never responded so I escalated it to a claim. This means that Paypal takes over and decides who is right and who gets to keep the money. I thought Paypal had sided with me because the seller agreed to issue me a refund and Paypal instructed me to send the package back and upload the tracking number. As soon as they confirmed it has been delivered, I am supposed to be refunded. All of the sudden, I got an e-mail telling me that my case was closed and that I had been denied a refund because the seller never confirmed that I received the package in the first place. So now I just lost $61 and there's nothing I can do! I don't understand because if they needed the original tracking number, why wouldn't they ask for it? I never knew it was in question whether it got delivered to me or not since I did receive the tracking number THROUGH PAYPAL after all. What a bunch of scumbags!! They just take people's money all the time.

The SECOND thing that happened in the past 2 days is this:
I sent my husband money through paypal. He sent me money back so that we could take it out of our debit card. I would be doing the same thing if he had the paypal debit card. However, when he went to send me money the last time they canceled it and told him that he had to issue me a refund. When he went to issue me a refund for the payment, $500 came out of our empty bank account. We can't even put the money back in because for some reason paypal will take your money instantly but they take 5 days to give it back. It's just really messed up because I was supposed to be sending money using a credit card (aka what paypal is set up to do) and they wound up taking money out of my bank account, costing me $70 in fees.

Bottom line: I am never using ebay again due to paypal. I have lost so much money (lost another $33 last week.) Paypal never seems to do what is right in a situation. Everyone is trying to scheme everyone nowadays, and most of the time it is the little people that get hurt!
From now on I am boycotting ebay and going strictly with Amazon Marketplace to buy and sell. Does anyone know of any other good sites to get (or sell) cool stuff in auction format??Michael & Keeleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08019401730845336627noreply@blogger.com0
